Share **Dominica’s Dive Fest kicks off this weekend**Dive Fest 2012, got started today with a press launch at the Fort Young Hotel. Dive Fest is an annual event organized by the Dominica Watersports Association and is in its 19th year. The festival celebrates the underwater sea life and features through scuba diving lessons, whale watching tours, canoe races, fish festivals and cooking competitions. The Dominica Watersports Association along with the Discover Dominica Authority continues to raise the awareness of the potential of our underwater life, and through the hosting of such an event; the conservation and sustainability of the Watersports industry will be maintained. The Tourism Authority endorses the continued collaboration and working relationships with the Fisheries Division and Dominica Watersports Association for the positive outcomes which will continue to auger well for Dominica’s tourism industry.**Dominica host US journalist**The Discover Dominica Authority hosted US journalist Deborah Snow from June 27 – 28, 2012, with various activities for the Caribbean Travel & Life and Islands magazines. Ms. Snow has visited the island before and was pleased to notice the many changes and upgrades to the activities and properties on the island. Some of the areas of focus were the natural sulphur spas at Wotten Waven, the wood carvings done by the Kalinago craftsmen and an interview and insight into the paintings of local artist Ellingsworth Moses. Ms. Snow was also accompanied by a model to ensure that excellent photos of Dominica’s hikes, lush rainforests and snorkeling were captured.**Dominica host UK journalist**The Discover Dominica Authority will host UK journalist Stuart Philpott from July 10 – 16, 2012. Mr. Philpott will be on island to cover the Dive Fest activities as well as to explore and experience some of the great diving in Dominica for Sport Diver Magazine. Sport Diver Magazine is the leading diving magazine for the PADI community in the UK, aimed at professionals and amateur divers. It is a monthly publication with distribution throughout the UK of 100,000. Mr. Philpott will be diving with most of the local dive operators on the island with the hope to capture the great underwater life and beauty that Dominica offers. He will also seek to explore some of the land activities to give a better perspective on the type of holiday and offering that the Nature Island possesses.Press Releaselast_img
