Last year, the 26-year-old Canadian pop star dropped the romantic country track shortly after tying the knot with wife Hailey Bieber (née Baldwin) for the second time in September 2019. The pair costarred in the music video — their first project as newlyweds — alongside Smyers, 33, Shay, 28, and each of their wives. The three couples shared sweet moments together in the video as the singers crooned the heartfelt lyrics.“I’d spend 10,000 hours and 10,000 more,” they sing in the chorus. “Oh, if that’s what it takes to learn that sweet heart of yours / And I might never get there, but I’m gonna try / If it’s 10,000 hours or the rest of my life / I’m gonna love you.”Shortly after they collaborated on the chart-topping single, Smyers and Mooney revealed that the “Sorry” singer put the duo on the spot at his 2019 wedding ceremony in South Carolina.Justin Bieber and Dan + Shay Matt Baron/Shutterstock; MediaPunch/Shutterstock- Advertisement – “We sang ‘Speechless’ and then Justin jumped on stage,” the country singers told Access Hollywood in November 2019. “We were about to release our new single ‘10,000 Hours.’ We had not ever performed it live. We’ve never sang it in front of anybody.’ We hacked our way through it. She detailed seeing federal marshals and machine guns. “And that’s the way we lived for an entire year,” Lucille Bridges said. Still, she said her daughter’s education was worth it. “I wanted it better for my kids than it was for us,” she said.New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell called Lucille Bridges “one of the mothers of the Civil Rights Movement” in a Facebook post Tuesday. “Lucille’s strength was unbounded during this period,” the mayor said. “Her husband was reluctant when the request came from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) to participate.“Lucille insisted, seeing the action as an opportunity to help all Black children, and walked Ruby, with federal marshals, past chanting and taunting white protesters and to the schoolhouse. Mother and daughter both revealed their character and courage. Today, folks recall Ruby as the little girl depicted in Norman Rockwell’s painting ‘The Problem We All Live With,’ and more recently might see a reimagining of the image now including Vice President-elect Kamala Harris walking alongside little Ruby. I think I speak for all mothers who want the best for their children when I hope for the same moral courage, bravery and love as that of Lucille Bridges. Ruby Bridges, who was born the very year the 1954 Brown vs. the Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas decision determined that racial segregation in schools was unconstitutional, credited her mother Lucille and her father, Abon Bridges, for the decision that ultimately made her a civil rights icon, the Associated Press reported. “Today our country lost a hero,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “Brave, progressive, a champion for change. She helped alter the course of so many lives by setting me out on my path as a six year old little girl. Our nation lost a Mother of the Civil Rights Movement today. And I lost my mom. I love you and am grateful for you. May you Rest In Peace.” The daughter of Mississippi sharecroppers, Lucille Bridges had a third-grade education but wanted more for her children, so the family moved to New Orleans, ABC-affiliated WGNO-TV reported. Years earlier, she said in an interview with the Spring Branch Independent School District that the day before her daughter’s first day of school Nov. 14, 1960, the Orleans Parish school superintendent told her and her husband “we had to pray because things were going to get really worse.” She said when she and her family arrived at the school, people were hollering “’two, four, six, eight, we don’t want to integrate.’” The crowd threw eggs and tomatoes at them, Lucille Bridges said. “And when they followed us home, they started pitching bottles and things,” the mother added.- Advertisement –
Some people hide their COVID-19 symptoms. Some people—like the one in this ICU unit—can’t.Night Owls, a themed open thread, appears at Daily Kos seven days a weekExcerpts from the December edition of Harper’s Index: At Daily Kos on this date in 2003—The battle for the soul of the Democratic Party:Divisions over ideology can be easily accepted in our party. We do have a big tent, and policy divisions are a reality we can learn to live with. Indeed, we have to live with them. Electoral realities mean that Democrats in the South have to be more moderate or conservative than those in the West Coast or in New England. But the hatred the establishment feels against Dean has nothing to do with ideology. Dean hasn’t paid his dues with the establishment. Dean campaign manager Joe Trippi has made his name working the campaigns of insurgent (hence anti-establishment) candidates like Jerry Brown. He is not part of the chummy inside-DC club of Democratic Party consultants. If Dean wins the nomination, he becomes the head of the Democratic Party. He gets to replace McAuliffe and fill the top ranks at the DNC. Suddenly, a “DNC Chairman Joe Trippi” is a real possibility, and for an establishment that has spent the better half of the last decade laughing at Trippi’s antics and dismissing him as a kook are suddenly standing on shaky ground.I always knew about the “establishment” distaste for Dean and Trippi, but Lizza’s piece puts the blame squarely on the Clinton crew.As the party’s split into Deaniacs and anti-Dean Clintonites unfolds, one of the most intriguing subplots concerns the machinations of Gore. Immediately after the Florida recount was decided in 2000, Gore’s senior aides were purged from the DNC and Clinton’s were installed. Some ex-Gore staffers are still bitter about the coup, and several express admiration for what Dean is doing. And Gore himself seems to be modeling his resurgence on the Dean phenomenon. – Advertisement – – Advertisement – Hypothetical median income of full-time U.S. workers if income were distributed as evenly as it was in 1975: $92,000Actual median income of full-time U.S. workers: $50,000Percentage change since last year in the number of U.S. homes for sale: -35In the median home price: +11Percentage of Americans aged 18-29 who live with one or both of their parents: 52Rank of this percentage among the highest ever recorded in the United States: 1Percentage of Americans with symptomatic COVID-19 who deny having symptoms when asked by others: 34Who try to conceal their symptoms: 55Percentage by which men are more likely to try to conceal their symptoms than women: 32Percentage of Americans who think climate change poses a risk to people living in the United States: 61Who think it poses a risk to them personally: 43Portion of Democratic or Democratic-leaning Americans who are trying to “tune out” coronavirus news: 1/5Of Republican or Republican-leaning Americans who are: 2/5Percentage of U.S. Black Lives Matter protests in which no people were harmed and no property was damaged: 93 THREE OTHER ARTICLES WORTH READINGTOP COMMENTS • RESCUED DIARIESQUOTATION“We don’t live in a world that suffers from doubt, but one that suffers from certainty, false certainties that compensate for the well of worldly anxieties and worries.” ~~Les Back, The Art of Listening (2007)TWEET OF THE DAYx BLAST FROM THE PAST- Advertisement –
Mar 27, 2008 (CIDRAP News) – Animal health officials in Switzerland today said samples from an asymptomatic duck were positive for H5N1 avian influenza, as officials in India announced a poultry outbreak in another district in West Bengal state.Switzerland’s Federal Veterinary Office today said the virus was found in a duck on Sempachersee Lake, northwest of Lucerne in the central part of the country, according to a report from Reuters. Switzerland hasn’t reported any infected birds in nearly 2 years, according to past reports from the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE).Animal health officials said the wild duck was a European pochard, according to Swissinfo, a Swiss Broadcasting Corp. Web news service. Authorities said an analysis of the H5N1 virus showed that it resembled strains found in other European birds in 2007.The infected duck brings the number of H5N1 findings in Swiss birds to 33, the veterinary office statement said, according to the two media sources. The other 32 birds were found on Lake Geneva and Lake Constance.Elsewhere, district officials in India announced today that the H5N1 virus was responsible for an outbreak in poultry in West Bengal state’s Jalpaiguri district, the Times of India reported. The findings in Jalpaiguri push the number of West Bengal districts affected by a second round of H5N1 outbreaks to three. The virus struck 112 backyard poultry, the Times report said. Samples from the birds tested positive at the High Security Animal Diseases Laboratory in Bhopal, a Jalpaiguri official named Banamali Roy told the Times. In other developments, agriculture officials in Vietnam said yesterday they would examine vaccinated poultry in Hanoi and some of the country’s provinces in the wake of reports of H5N1 outbreaks at farms that have participated in vaccination programs, Thanh Nien News reported today. On Mar 17 and 18, animal health officials reported two H5N1 outbreaks in two districts in Quang Nam province in central Vietnam, according to the Thanh Nien report. One third of the birds in one of the districts, Ni Thanh, had been vaccinated on Mar 12, but veterinary officials said they could have had H5N1 before the vaccine generated antibodies to the virus.Nguyen Thanh Sol, deputy chief of Vietnam’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, told Thanh Nien that though many provinces have taken part in vaccination and other programs, carelessness—especially among farmers—was responsible for avian flu outbreaks. In Egypt, people who raise poultry in their backyards now seem to be heeding safety warnings about H5N1, such as advice to keep the birds in coops away from living areas, according to a report yesterday from the Associated Press (AP). The story said poultry have nearly vanished from the streets of the country’s villages.Egypt has had 47 human H5N1 cases and 20 deaths, the third highest toll after Indonesia and Vietnam, and the disease has struck women and children hardest, because they have traditionally been the primary caretakers of poultry.”In the beginning, the people were just afraid for their chickens. Now they are afraid for themselves,” Abeer Hussein Moussa, a resident of Tawfiqiya in Fayoum governorate, told the AP.As more Egyptians stop raising birds at home, chicken production has transitioned mainly to large commercial farms, the AP reported. However, not all commercial farms conduct rigorous vaccination programs, and the government has shuttered 18 farms after finding birds infected with the H5N1 virus, the report said.

Side dish: HGK / CRITICAL POINTS IN BUSINESS CONDITIONS IN CROATIA This report highlights the worst points in the business process in Croatia, which are, in addition to the above, obtaining building permits, obtaining loans and solving insolvency problems. Croatian entrepreneurs in all relevant surveys on the problems that represent the biggest obstacles in their business often state the administrative procedures they encounter when starting a business and during business, says the analysis of the Critical Point in business conditions in Croatia made by the Croatian Chamber of Commerce. They rate them as long-lasting, expensive and sometimes uncertain, and subject to frequent (small) changes that make planning difficult and cost and time-consuming for the company. It is more difficult for foreign investors to enter such a business environment, and domestic companies are less competitive in foreign markets. This analysis highlights the most critical points that put business conditions in Croatia at the bottom of the EU according to the World Bank’s (Doing Business Index) methodology, the Croatian Chamber of Commerce points out. Cultural tourism in Croatia is treated as one of the most promising tourism products, but it is still developing slowly and without any real vision and strategy. For starters, it would certainly be good if the cultural routes were visible somewhere on the internet, well presented, networked with all the relevant information. But as we can see on the official website Association “Tur Kultur”, there is only a white background and a message – Error establishing a database connection. Croatia is among the leading destinations in Europe in the number of protected tangible and intangible cultural assets by UNESCO. And if we know how every tenth guest is motivated to come to Croatia by cultural sights and events, as well as through the prism of quality tourist content, then we can certainly conclude that cultural tourism is one of the important directions of tourism development. CHARLES BONAPARTE: AFTER JESUS CHRIST NAPOLEON IS THE SECOND HISTORICAL PERSON WHO IS MOST RESEARCHED ON THE GOOGLE SEARCH But we can boast of as many as nine European cultural routes that pass through our territory. These are the route of St. Martin, the Route of the Olive Tree, the Route of the Vine, the European Route of Cemeteries, the European Route of Historic Thermal Towns, ATRIUM – Architecture of 20th Century Totalitarian Regimes, Roman Emperors and the Danube Wine Route, Destination Napoleon and the Phoenician Route. If cultural routes are not already visible and live in the field, it would be good to at least “live” online. Obviously a lot more education is needed. “Each workshop or seminar was thematically and geographically determined, ie they concerned the potential of specific routes in each area. In Gospić we held two workshops – Cluster of tourist routes – Designing a tourist product in rural and cultural tourism and Cultural Route Nikola Tesla, in Osijek we talked about the European cultural route of Art Nouveau Réseau Art Nouveau Network, in Karlovac about the European cultural route – Destination Napoleon, and Vukovar on Tourist valorization of cultural and thematic routes. At the workshops, we actively worked on designing new tourist products related to these routes. Of course, with estimates of cost-effectiveness, ie economic effects of all individual routes, and we also opened talks on the possibilities for financing such projects. “, points out the president of the association “Tur Kultur” Dubravka Davidović, who claims that there is great potential in cultural routes and hopes that Croatia will recognize it given that it is at the very top of countries in the number of routes. The association “Tur Kultur”, among other things, has launched an initiative for three new cultural “trails”, such as, for example, the Nikola Tesla route, so we could soon have 12 of them. One of the ways to develop cultural tourism are cultural routes. Thus, more than 57 European cultural routes pass through 30 countries, and about 90 percent of them extend to rural areas. In addition to synergies, they are subject to financing through various EU funds, which opens the possibility of financing the reconstruction of various neglected cultural facilities, and thus their revitalization. Nine European cultural routes pass through Croatia Cultural tourism is a branch that has a huge potential in Croatia, especially because of our incredibly rich history, diversity and authenticity. In addition to enriching the tourist offer and creating much-needed quality content, cultural routes are also an opportunity for the specialization of tourist guides. In any case, cultural routes are a great complement and need to be developed more and more. But one thing is form, and content is quite another. Regardless of the current active cultural routes, the question is how well they are represented and “alive” and thus in the real function of tourism. It is not enough just to draw a cultural route on a brochure or a map, put a board on certain objects, but to invest in infrastructure, attractive and interesting presentation, added value and finally complete the entire tourist product. If the cultural route is not accepted at the local level, if it is not really active and well presented, then unfortunately we only have the form and not the content of the whole story. There are many more routes along which numerous interesting traces of the cultures of that time have been sown throughout Croatia throughout history. The mission to better present them to the general public, and especially how to sensitize tourism workers to such stories, was accepted by the Association for Tourist and Cultural Routes “Tur Kultur”, which held a series of workshops and seminars under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism.
